MEDIUM: Wood panel, acrylic, paper, craft, pen, pencil, oil pastel. (4ft x 4ft)
DESCRIPTIONS:
This piece took over three years—it’s the embodiment of all the things needed in order to create something that is both deeply my own, and also—an amalgamation of all the things that take up space in my mind when I’m creating. All the things that need to be present in order for me to allow it to slip through.
When it comes to time, both past and present, this piece is a portal of the pain that keeps us from finishing things, the overwhelm that will stretch, scatter and begin again and again. But also, the thing that is greater than those feelings. Which is wonder. It takes an incredible amount of wonder and curiosity to create, and the things that always grab my attention are people, art, artists, machines, tiny glimpses of life, and everything that we can see thru an open window.
As a graphic artist, illustrator, and painter, I often see things going in many directions. Funding the stylistic rules that make creating art fun, and in which makes it make sense, are deeply important to me.
BIO/ARTIST STATEMENT:
Curiosity is a superpower—and for a long time it was a survival instinct that had me questioning myself out of critical need. But time, patience, and love have a wonderful way of easing the questions that we can’t answer. If words aren’t there to greet me, I choose a medium that can. I am a multi-disciplined creative with a love of art, words, performance, and the complexity and simplicity of human expression. When it comes to art, I believe the value that I hold the most dear, is wonder. It’s the most pivotal and necessary piece needed in order for me to sit, play, and even find peace. You know, other than love.
